Francisco Honors Franklin Fung Chow, Distinguished Alum

by Annie Chen, Carly Wong and Tom Samzelius

On February 16, 2010, a section of the Francisco Middle School library was dedicated to Franklin Fung Chow for his significant contribution to our school. Every month for over thirty years, Mr. Chow have given one hundred dollars to our library. This dedication was a way to honor him for his generosity. With his money, our school was able to purchase books, for example: historical novels and non-fiction resources, as well as, books in Chinese for the bilingual and new comer students. Another school Mr.Chow has donated to is Spring Valley Elementary School. (See video.)

Franklin Fong ChowMr. Chow graduated from Francisco Junior High in the year of 1951. In the late 1960s, he also participated in the Student Strike fighting for classes of Ethnic Studies at San Francisco State. He had worked in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Commission of Civil Rights, and is presently retired from the Federal Government. Now, Mr. Chow comes back to San Francisco at least once a year, usually during Chinese New Year. Once again we take this opportunity to appreciate his benvevolence and generosity.
